Under The Radar: Jesse Futerman - Fuse The Witches EP

Around this time last year, Canadian whizkid Jesse Futerman flew in out of nowhere and floored me with Super Basement, a most excellent EP of downtempo, mainly instrumental hip hop.

When I heard the word that Futerman was releasing a new EP, Fuse The Witches, last month, you can understand why I was excited. And then it dropped...and to be honest, I was left a little flat.

Maybe I was having a bad day; maybe I was grumpier than usual; whatever it was, Fuse The Witches just didn't grab me.

A bit harsh? Maybe. It's pretty tough to follow up an EP that dominated my iPod for a month and change, after all. But let me get to the point of this post before you think I'm bagging on Futerman.

An iTunes shake up last week saw Fuse The Witches find it's way back into my play list last week. And after listening with a fresh pair of ears, I'm happy to say it's sounding a whole lot better to me.

Tunes like 'Strange Fruit' and 'Dawn Wawn' are all the confirmation I need of Futerman's musical chops, and while Fuse The Witches might not have hit me like Super Basement, it's a good listen in it's own right.

You can stream or download Fuse The Witches below:
